Here at the Atlantic Fish Bar we pride ourselves on our cod loin and line caught haddock fillets.  We take sustainability very seriously and as such only use MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) cod fillets, certified as caught from sustainable and responsibly managed fishing grounds.

Cod (Gadus morhua) hardly needs any introduction but is a tender-firm textured fish from the Gadus genus of demersal fish.  Cod has a characteristically lean white flesh with a mild, slightly sweet flavour.  All of the cod served into the restaurant is cut from the loin of the fillet which provides the thickest, largest flakes of fish.  We typically use cod from 5lb-15lb whole weight and trim their fillets in house removing all bones.

All of our cod (except kids sizes) is cooked and served skin on, because the skin protects the fish and locks in moisture and flavor.  However we are happy to remove the skin upon request and offer our cod battered, char-grilled plain or in Cajun spices, steamed, breaded, gluten free battered and coated in our light fusion batter for those seeking a healthier option.
